Feature

ABC Kindness Club

The ABC Kindness Club is working on two upcoming projects at PES. First, the club is hosting a school Spirit Week, which includes dress days throughout the week. Monday is Pajama Day, Tuesday is Hat Day, Wednesday is Career Day, Thursday is Hero Day, and Friday is Sports Day.

Secondly, ABC Kindness is supporting the “Families in Transition Program”.  This is an organization that supports families who have been homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The goal is to collect 100 items to celebrate 100 days of school. We are set to hit our 100th day of school on February 16 and will be collecting items through March 6.

Administration

National Assessment of Educational Progress

The Pittsfield School District has been selected to represent schools across the nation by participating in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subject areas. It is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education. The results of NAEP are released as The Nation’s Report Card, which provides information about student achievement to educators, parents, policymakers, and the public. Students in fourth and eighth will be participating in the assessment. Participation in NAEP is voluntary. If you wish for your son or daughter not to participate, please notify Mrs. Harvey by February 20, 2015

Programs

Smarter Balanced

The Smarter Balanced Assessment System will replace existing statewide assessments in mathematics, reading, and writing (the NECAP) and offer significant improvements over assessments of the past. These new assessments will be administered online and will adapt to each student’s ability, giving teachers and parents better information to help students succeed. The NH Department of Education has an FAQ sheet if you would like more information.
