Pittsfield Food Pantry Serves
Spaghetti Dinner
The
Pittsfield Food Pantry is holding a spaghetti and meatball
dinner and bake sale to benefit its outreach to the
community. All ages will enjoy the tasty meal of spaghetti
and meatballs, salad, dessert (including homemade pies), and
beverages, which will be served at the First Congregational
Church, 24 Main Street, Pittsfield, Saturday, February 21,
5-7 p.m.
A monetary donation is requested. Baked goods
will also be offered for sale. Parking and wheelchair
accessible entry located at back of church. For more

Auditions Announced for “Dearly
Beloved”
The
Pittsfield Players will conduct auditions for the comedy
“Dearly Beloved” Sunday, January 25 at 7 p.m. and again
Monday, January 26 at 7 p.m. at the Scenic Theatre, 6 Depot
Street, Pittsfield.
“Dearly Beloved,” written by Jessie
Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, is a story of a very
dysfunctional but lovable Texas family facing the stresses
of a family wedding. This comedy is as fast-paced as (and
possibly crazier than) last year’s production of “Dearly
Departed,” which was co-written by Jones, one of the
authors. Mike Hobson is directing.
Auditioners will be
asked to read from the script. The show will run two
weekends -- March 20, 21, 22, and March 27 and 28. The cast
calls for 4 men (ages 20-65) and 7 women (ages 20-65). One
female cast member doubles in the roles of identical twin
sisters.

Volunteer Citizens Patrol
The Pittsfield Police Department is
seeking input from residents within the community of
Pittsfield who are interested in making a difference for the
future of our citizens. If you are interested in
volunteering your services as a civilian who will help
monitor day to day criminal activity on the streets please
contact Chief Robert Wharem at 435-7535 X11 to become part
of a growing list of residents working on this project.
Senior Residents
Call-In Program
The phone rings at the fire
station at a certain time in the morning and we all say,
“It’s Mrs. ‘Smith’” and sure enough, it is. We enjoy
talking with her and it’s always a pleasant start to our
day. If we haven’t heard from her, we ask one another if she
has called.
Later in the day, the crew
returns to the station from a request for emergency service
and sees that it’s time to call ‘Mr. Jones.’ We find that
he is doing well and we chat for a few minutes about how our
day is going. We have developed a fondness for “our”
seniors and look forward to our daily conversations.
The Pittsfield Fire and
Rescue Service would like to remind our senior residents
that we welcome you to be a part of our daily call-in
program to check on your well-being. If you are a senior or
disabled resident who would like to be contacted daily to
check in, please give us a call to make arrangements. We
will talk about what works best for you – you may chose to
call us daily at a particular time of day or you may prefer
that we contact you. Either way, if we do not hear from
you, we will check on your welfare and see how you are. If
you choose, you may provide us with the name and phone
number of a family member or friend to be contacted on your
behalf if needed.
Please call us at 435-6807 or
stop by the fire station at 33 Catamount Road to be included
in the Senior Residents Call-In Program.
