Marriage Licenses:
Anyone, whether a New
Hampshire resident or not, may go to any New Hampshire City
or Town Clerk's office to apply for a marriage license. Be
prepared to show identification that proves you are of legal
age to be married in New Hampshire.
If you have been married
before, you must show proof as to how the last marriage
ended; certified copy of a death certificate, divorce decree
or annulment. The document must have a raised seal.
The license is valid for 90
days from the date of filing. If that period expires
before the wedding is performed, you must apply for a second
license.
The license fee is $50.00,
plus $15.00 for a certified copy after the marriage, for a
total of $65.00. Additional copies at $10.00 each. The fee may be paid in cash or by check.
Both the bride and groom must be present to sign the license
before it can be issued.
Death, Birth, Marriage
Certificates:
If a birth or death occurred
in Pittsfield, or if the Town Clerk issued the marriage
license, you must request a copy in writing. Please give
the name(s) as shown on the certificates, the date of the
event, the purpose for which the certificate was requested
and your relationship to the person(s) on the document(s).
There is a charge of $12.00
for the search of the records. If the record is found, a
certified copy will be issued. If you require more than one
copy of a record, each additional copy purchased at the same
time is $8.00. Please make your check payable to the Town
of Pittsfield, NH. |
