Carpenter
Library Services
Interlibrary Loan
Any patron in good standing may request material that we do not own
through our Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL). This service,
through the New Hampshire State Library, allows us to search
throughout the state for material and to borrow it for our patrons.
There is a certain amount of lead time necessary for this service,
but most requests are filled within two weeks.
Large
Print
The Carpenter Library provides a limited selection of large print
books. With the help of the New Hampshire State Library Handicapped
Services Division, we have a rotating stock of about thirty books a
month in large print. Additional titles may be ordered upon request
through ILL (see above).
Audio
Books
The library owns a collection of books on tape. In addition we have
a rotating stock of these tapes through our membership in the
Suncook Interlibrary Cooperative (SILC). Fresh titles come to us
every three months. All tapes circulate for one week only.
Video
Tapes
The library owns a collection of video tapes and has a rotating
stock through the Cooperative as above. These tapes range from
pre-school interest level through school-age movies to regular adult
movies. We have a small assortment of self-help tapes as well.
Videos circulate for one week.
Periodicals
The Carpenter Library subscribes to about 30 general interest
magazines. Because of limited space and resources we do not archive
periodicals.
Computers
The
library has available to the public computers for word processing
and for Internet research. Computers should be reserved in advance
if you know that you will need one at a certain time or date. Usage
is limited to patrons in good standing. You may use the computers
for a period of one hour unless no one else is waiting to use
them. The circulation desk librarian is the gatekeeper for the
library computers, and if you are asked by her to get off a
computer, you must do so or lose future computer privileges.
Printing from the library computers is charged at 15 cents a page.
Photocopier
The library provides a black and white photocopier for public use.
Copies may be run at 10 cents for one-sided copies, and 15 cents for
two-sided or legal size copies. Pay at the circulation desk when
you are finished. |
